Guelph and area population passes 180K according to StatsCan estimate

The Guelph census metropolitan area (CMA) includes Puslinch and Guelph-Eramosa Township

A population milestone for the Guelph area.

According to a population estimate released by Statistics Canada Wednesday, Guelph’s census metropolitan area (CMA) hit a population of 180,476. The number is as of July 1, 2023.

The CMA includes Guelph/Eramosa and Puslinch.

Revised totals for previous years were also released. Guelph’s estimated population as of July 1, 2022 was 176,521. That means Guelph saw a year-over-year increase of 2.2 per cent.

The Guelph CMA's population calculated in the 2021 census was 165,588.

The new StatsCan data shows Canada’s 41 CMA’s hit a combined population of 29,814,146, showing a year-over-year growth of 3.5 per cent.
