Florida-born left winger Sasha Pastujov commits to Storm

Selected in the third round, 66th overall by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft earlier this summer

Storm General Manager & Head Coach George Burnett announced today that 2019 draft pick Sasha Pastujov has signed an OHL Standard Player Agreement with the hockey club. The 6’1, 187 lbs left winger from Bradenton, Florida was selected in the third round, 66th overall by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft earlier this summer.  

“Sasha is an outstanding young player with a dynamic skillset who will contribute in all situations for our hockey club,” said GM and Head Coach George Burnett. “We are thrilled that he and his family have made the decision to commit to the Guelph Storm.”  

The 2003-born Pastujov was selected by the Storm from the Detroit Compuware AAA program in 2019. He spent the past two seasons with the US National Team Development Program where he put up outstanding numbers. In 2019-20, Pastujov produced 14 goals, 36 assists for 50 points in 49 games for the US National U17 Team. He led Team USA to a silver medal in the 2019 U17 World Hockey Challenge, where he was tied for the tournament lead in assists with 7 assists in 6 games. Pastujov followed that up with an exceptional 2020-21 campaign, leading the US National U18 Team in scoring with 30 goals, 35 assists for 65 points in 41 games. He also led Team USA in scoring this spring at the 2021 IIHF U18 World Championships with 5 goals, 3 assists for 8 points in 5 games.

His brothers, Nick and Michael, have also had impressive hockey careers. Nick was selected in the seventh round, 193rd overall by the New York Islanders in 2016 and competed for four years at the University of Michigan. Michael also played for the University of Michigan where he completed his senior year last spring.
