Wiarton Willie might have predicted an early spring at the start of the month, but it certainly doesn’t feel that way in Guelph.

The city is maintaining a significant weather event, which has been in place since Feb. 12 due to consistently heavy snowfall.

Sidewalks and some remaining roads continue to be cleared, and the city is shifting some resources to focus on snow removal in locations with safety concerns, like the site lines at intersections or congested areas downtown, according to a news release posted Friday.

Monday through Thursday next week the city is asking residents to avoid parking on streets overnight for downtown snow removal.

In the meantime, residents can park on the street if street parking is normally allowed, and there is at least three metres of clearance between the vehicle and opposite edge of the roadway.
