GuelphToday received the following Letter to the Editor from reader Pina Marfisi, in regards to recent activity downtown.
We would like to start with thanking our mayor Cam Guthrie for all of his hard work in re-establishing order to our downtown core.
We would also like to give a special mention to the Stepping Stone’s Gayle Hoeska for her contribution in the effort. None of this would have been possible without Gayle's support and guidance.
Thank you to all the businesses that contributed support and patience to bring this complex and challenging situation together.
It also has to be stated that the professionalism of the police, bylaw, and city workers did not go unnoticed. They were all exceptional in their dealing with this difficult and stressful situation. Their approach was beneficial to the folks and working together helped in a smooth transition.
While this doesn’t solve the issue, it definitely helps ease the daily strain on small businesses and their ability to earn a living.
We will continuously work to helping both sides, all citizens of Guelph deserves to be safe.
Our hopes are that with this change to the dynamic of our downtown, our citizens will be encouraged to feel safe again and support our local downtown small business.
I thank everyone involved from the bottom of my heart.
Pina Marfisi
