Mapleton's Bosworth Bridge has reopened

The bridge was closed in March for a complete replacement

MAPLETON — After almost 10 months, Bosworth Bridge has been reopened to motorists.

According to a County of Wellington Facebook post, the bridge, which is located in Mapleton on Wellington Road 7 between Wellington Road 11 and Wellington Road 12 is now open to traffic.

The existing 40-metre, single-span structure was replaced with a new, 50-metre single-span steel plate girder bridge with an additional 230 metres on either side of the roadway.

A steel truss bridge originally built in 1949, a 2020 Municipal Class Environmental Assessment to address the bridge's condition determined it had reached the end of its service life and needed replacement.

The project cost approximately $6.3 million.
