ROCKWOOD – Signage welcoming residents to the township could soon undergo a facelift.

Brought forward by Coun. Mark Bouwmeester at a council meeting Monday afternoon, the township of Guelph Eramosa has approved investigating installing new Welcome to Rockwood signs, directing staff to bring back more information on pricing and designs in a report at a later meeting.

The signs are proposed for the commercial corridor leading in and out of Rockwood.

At the meeting, Councillor Corey Woods also advocated for the township to investigate digital signage with LED lighting to update residents outside of the proposed gateway signs.

"I think we need fancier signs that are lit up with a floodlight or something at the very minimum," said Woods. "Obviously, if we had maybe one or two LED signs around if you could put hazard warnings on there or updates or whatever, that would be great."
