Guelph Arts Council is thrilled to welcome our new Communications and Event Assistant for summer 2019, Lauren Taylor. Lauren has been helping to promote our GAC members through social media and maintaining guelpharts.ca. Lauren has also been interviewing and writing advocacy articles to promote key cultural organizations in Guelph while supporting in the organization and implementation of one of GAC’s signature events – Art on the Street.
Lauren’s passion for supporting the arts stems from being an artist herself. As a trained violist and violinist Lauren is a member of Safe as Houses – a five piece alternative-folk outfit from Kitchener, Ontario. Aside from sharing her music on-stage, Lauren sits on the youth advisory committee of Folk Music Ontario and teaches violin and mentors musicians at eBolt music in Cambridge.
In the fall, Lauren will be attending The Glenn Gould School of Royal Conservatory of Music as a GGS Graduate Orchestral Scholar – a non-academic professional training program offered to a small number of students each year.
GAC is excited and lucky to have Lauren as part of our team this summer! Welcome Lauren.

Fun fact: Lauren has an amazing “button collection”, it’s the ‘pin-nacle’ of wearable art!
