Woman arrested for arson after brush fire set in east Guelph

A Guelph woman was arrested for arson following an east end brush fire Monday morning, Guelph police report.

Approximately 8:35 a.m. police were called to attend York Road near Victoria Road South by the Guelph Fire Department, which had extinguished a small brush fire. Firefighters believe the fire could have posed a significant threat due to the number of trees in the area. The property is also surrounded by businesses.

Officers located a woman in the area. After speaking to her she was placed under arrest.

A 45-year-old Guelph woman is charged with arson and breaching a probation order. She was held for a bail hearing.
