The theft of a few dollars in copper wire could cost tens of thousands of dollars in repairs, say Guelph police.
Monday afternoon police were called to a construction site near Speedvale Avenue West and Kathleen Street. Two homes under construction had been entered over the weekend and copper wire was cut out and removed.
The site supervisor told officers the stolen wire was likely valued at about $20, however because of how it was removed the homes may need to be completely rewired at a potential cost of $40,000 each.
