A Guelph man faces assault and weapons charges after a woman was threatened after her car broke down Friday afternoon.
Guelph police say approximately 3:15 p.m. police were dispatched to the area of Edinburgh Road North and Paisley Road. Witnesses reported a shirtless man chasing another unknown man while wielding a set of bicycle forks. The suspect then began walking in traffic and approached a vehicle which had broken down.
He told the female driver to leave the area immediately or she would be assaulted, while holding up the bicycle forks in a threatening manner.
Officers arrived a short time later and arrested him. A 24-year-old Guelph man is charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon and uttering threats. He was held for a bail hearing.
