Rockwood man charged in last Wednesday's crash

CENTRE WELLINGTON – Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious three-motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 6 and 8th Line/ Wellington Road 22, within Centre Wellington. One driver was sent to a local hospital, and one passenger was air-lifted to a trauma centre.

On November 27, 2024, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Wellington County OPP, alongside other local emergency services, responded to a three-motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 6 and 8th Line / Wellington Road 22, within Centre Wellington Township.

Initial reports indicated that two sport utility vehicles (SUV) and one sedan were involved, partially blocking the intersection. As a result of the collision, one driver was taken to local hospital for assessment with minor injuries, and passenger from another motor vehicle was taken by Ornge Air Ambulance to a trauma centre with non-life-threatening injuries.

The intersection was initially partially closed while investigators were on scene, but was later re-opened at approximately 7:30 p.m.

As a result of the investigation, a 64-year-old from Rockwood was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Fail to yield to traffic on through highway

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Provincial Offences Court - Guelph at a later date.
