Police downtown clampdown sees new drug arrest

Two charged with possession of controlled substances in Yarmouth Street area

Members of the Guelph police downtown project, addressing public safety in shared spaces, specifically open drug possession, arrested a couple for open drug use.

At approximately 12:28 p.m. Wednesday a 38-year-old woman and a 53-year-old man were observed in the area of Yarmouth Street to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and a suspected controlled substance.

A search incident to arrest found the couple to be in possession of several controlled substances. The pair were arrested and released with a court date and the couple was also connected with the Welcoming Streets initiative for resource navigation.
