A Guelph man faces several charges after he was stopped by officers Tuesday evening.
Approximately 9:15 p.m. officers were investigating a theft on Woodlawn Road West when they observed a male matching the suspect’s description riding a bike in the area. When they tried to stop him, the male dropped the bike and fled on foot toward a wooded area but was arrested following a short foot pursuit.
He provided a name and date of birth later determined to be false. His true identity was determined by comparing the man’s unique tattoos to a police database and it was determined he was wanted on several charges including possessing a weapon and breaching court orders.
Investigation revealed the male was wearing a new Milwaukee heated sweater and had discarded other items while being pursued. It is believed all these items were stolen from a nearby business.
A 36-year-old Guelph man is further charged with possessing stolen property, obstructing police and failing to appear in court. He was held for a bail hearing.
