A man arrested last week for allegedly cutting internet and phone cables at downtown businesses is back behind bars.

On Wednesday morning, a man entered a business on Clair Road East, selected a bottle of alcohol valued at more than $100 and began drinking it as he walked from the store without paying. He was identified through video surveillance.

Two hours later, the same man was observed at St. George’s Square where he damaged a memorial which had been set up for a female who recently passed away and yelled at residents sitting on a nearby bench.

A 32-year-old Guelph man is further charged with theft under $5,000 and mischief under $5,000. He was held for a bail hearing.
