On the morning of Aug. 14, 2019, police observed a motor vehicle driving near the downtown area of the city without any license plates. The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, however the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed and was observed weaving in and out of traffic lanes, driving into oncoming traffic, mounting a curb, driving on a sidewalk and striking a traffic sign with the passenger side mirror.
Police discontinued the pursuit due to public safety concerns. Please note that the vehicle did not collide with any other vehicles during the pursuit, and there were not any injuries.
A short time later, the motor vehicle was located in a parking lot of a housing complex on the east end of the city.
As a result of the investigation, a 21-year-old Guelph female has been charged with:
- Flight from police
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- Breach probation
- Breach recognizance
- Fail to remain
- Suspend drive
- Drive motor vehicle no plates
- Fail to report
- Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner
- Drive motor vehicle no insurance
A 26-year-old Guelph male has been charged with:
- Breach recognizance
- Breach probation
They will both appear in court on Aug. 15, 2019.
