What started as a verbal dispute about how one roommate cares for their cat ended with an assault charge against another roommate on Thursday.
As explained by police, the incident began over text between two roommates at a home near the intersection of Kortright Road West and Edinburgh Road South – a male expressed displeasure at how a female cares for her cat.
At 10 p.m., the female was in the kitchen doing dishes when the male reportedly walked in and spit water in her face. A verbal argument ensued and other roommates intervened.
Police were subsequently called to the scene and a 40-year-old Guelph man was charged with assault.
