A Guelph man was arrested Thursday morning after he was caught attempting to break into a downtown apartment building.
Approximately 8:20 a.m. police were called to the building near Norfolk Street and Quebec Street for reports of a male in the parking garage trying to enter the building. Officers arrived minutes later and observed the male attempting to break into a mechanical room.
He was arrested and officers located a crowbar, side cutters, a knife in a sheath and a bag containing 65 grams of cannabis. The items were in a folding wagon determined to have been stolen from the parking garage.
A 35-year-old Guelph man is charged with break and enter, possessing break-in instruments, possessing stolen property, failing to comply with a release order and possessing more than 30 grams of cannabis. He was held for a bail hearing November 13.
