Landlord arrested after beef with tenant

A Guelph man was arrested for assault following a dispute about outstanding rent Sunday, say Guelph police.

Approximately 9 p.m. police were called to an address on Grange Road near Watson Parkway North. A male reported he was arguing with his landlord about rent when the landlord picked up a shovel and gestured to hit him with it. The landlord also spat on the victim before leaving the property.

A 51-year-old Guelph man was located at his residence and arrested for assault and assault with a weapon. He will appear in court September 3.
