Late last month, Guelph police initiated an investigation into the theft of gas that led to the identification of the suspect, a 40-year-old Guelph man. An arrest warrant was issued.

On Thursday, while conducting routine patrol, officers observed the suspect vehicle involved in the theft being operated in the parking lot of a residential apartment complex on Woolwich. At approximately 10 p.m., the vehicle was stopped and the wanted male was identified and arrested.

Police allege there was clear indication of drug use in the vehicle. Police continued to investigate, and this resulted in the man being further charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance (suspected methamphetamine and hydromorphone pills).
