A 28-year-old Guelph man faces several charges following a robbery at a downtown-area store on Monday morning.
Police were called to a store in the area of Gordon and Wellington streets shortly before 10 a.m. Officers were told a man asked the clerk to check his lottery ticket and got upset after learning it was not a winner.
The man is alleged to have begun walking around the store putting items in his backpack.
When the clerk attempted to stop him, the man reportedly pushed the clerk and fled.
He was arrested a short distance away, police said in a news release.
The clerk wasn’t physically injured.
In addition to a robbery charge, the accused faces four counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
