Two elementary schools are under lock down on Wednesday afternoon, as police investigate an “ongoing incident.”

The lockdowns are happening at St. Michael Catholic Elementary School on McElderry Road, where the incident is reported to have happened, and nearby Jean Little Public School on Youngman Drive, police note in a social media post at about 3 p.m.

Rickson Ridge Public School on Rickson Avenue is under a hold and secure.

At St. Michael school, parents gathered anxiously nearby after arriving to pick up their children after school. They said they had no previous notice, were just told to wait nearby as at least eight police vehicles and the police tactical unit was on scene.

One unconfirmed report said police were sweeping the building.

There were no fire or ambulance vehicles on scene at St. Michael.

More to come.
