Highway 6 reopens as police investigate homicide in Millgrove

Hamilton Police are releasing more information about an early morning homicide in Millgrove.

Police were called to a reported shooting on Highway 6 near Concession 6 E at around 4:30 a.m. Saturday, where they say a fight broke out at a party in a short-term rental property.

Arriving officers found a man with non-life threatening injuries.

“The male reported he had been shot at a party located in a nearby short-term rental property,” said police in a news release.

“Upon arriving at the property, police learned at least two other victims had fled the scene and one later succumbed to his injuries in a car nearby. A female sustained non-life-threatening injuries.”

Investigators are now working on identifying the victim and locating the next of kin.

Police say around 60 people were at the party and they are interviewing the witnesses to determine what took place. 

They do not yet have a suspect or vehicle description.

As of 10:15 a.m., Highway 6 remains closed in both directions between Concession 6 E and Concession 7 E.
