PETERBOROUGH – A third period comeback fell just short Saturday as the Guelph Storm fell 3-2 to the Peterborough Petes in its final pre-season game.
Guelph finished the season with one win and three losses, with one of the losses coming in a shootout. They start their regular season Friday night at home against Owen Sound.
Leo Serlin led Guelph with five points in the pre-season, Parker Snelgrove had a team-best four goals.
Guelph fell behind 3-0 after two periods before goals by Alex McLean and Snelgrove, the latter shorthanded, made it close. Max Namestnikov, Ryan McGuire, Leo Serlin and Quinn Beauchesne had assists.
Guelph outshot Peterborough 38-32. Brayden Gillespie and Colin Ellsworth split the goaltending duties.
