Local martial artist wins Canadian title

Local Martial Artist Nathan Skoufis, claimed Gold in the Canadian Open Martial Arts Championships this past weekend in Kitchener, Ontario. 

Competitors present were from throughout North America, martial arts stylist included karate, tae kwon do, boxing, kickboxing, kung fu and many more. Skoufis claimed first place in men’s adult fighting. The fighting winners are all brought together to compete for the overall Grand Champion title, the heavyweight, lightweight and senior fighting first place winners all fight until one person is crowned the “overall all weight champion.”

Skoufis was crowned the overall champion. 

Skoufis has now won the title for the eleventh straight year at the Canadian Open Championships breaking a martial arts record in the process. 

Skoufis is a sixth degree black belt, member of Team Canada and lifetime resident of the area.
