A Guelph high school football player is garnering plenty of attention after he appeared on a recent NFL broadcast.

Video of Centennial CVI senior Matt Stam’s one-handed touchdown grab in triple coverage was picked for the Week 5 NFL Canada Way to Play award.

The video was seen during an NFL broadcast on CTV, and also featured on the TSN website.

Stam’s coach Chas Douglas sent in the video.

Centennial also will receive a $3,000 equipment grant through Football Canada as part of the award.

According to a news release, the award “recognizes players across the country who exemplify proper play and technique on the field.”

“The award is designed to invest in Canadian high school and CEGEP tackle football programs while reinforcing good playing technique,” it added.

Stam is a senior at Centennial, and also played for Team Ontario at last year’s Football Canada Cup.
