The youth movement continues for the Guelph Storm.

On New Year's Day the Storm announced it has traded veteran goaltender Brayden Gillespie to the Brampton Steelheads. In return Guelph receives a second round pick in 2025 (Brampton), a third-round pick in 2026 (London), and a conditional fifth-round pick in 2027 (Brantford). The conditional pick is if Gillespie returns to the league next season as an overage.

Gillespie 19, was an 11th round pick of Guelph in 2021.

This season he had a record of 9-15-1-0 with a goals-against average of 4.24 and a save percentage of .869.

Over three seasons the Oakville native played in 105 games for Guelph, recording 45 wins and two shutouts.

The move leaves Guelph with 16 year old Colin Ellsworth and 17 year old Zack Jovanovski as the Storm's two goaltenders.

Guelph plays in Windsor Thursday and hosts Owen Sound Friday.
