Guelph’s on-field success has led to some laurels for its field manager.
The Royals' skip Dino Roumel was named manager of the year by the Intercounty Baseball League's Board of Governors Wednesday. Roumel wins the Troy May Memorial Trophy in the process.
Roumel coached Guelph to a 24-18 record, and helped lead the team to a berth in the IBL final for the first time in 20 years.
Roumel just completed his fourth consecutive year as Royals manager.
It is the third time he has won the award, winning it previously in 1993 and 1994 during his first stint with the team.
