The struggling Guelph Storm got some very good news Saturday as the Philadelphia Flyers announced they were returning centre Jett Luchanko to the team.
Luchanko, 18, was taken by the Flyers 13th overall in last summer's NHL draft after scoring 20 goals and adding 54 assists for the Storm last season.
As the youngest player in the NHL, Luchanko played in four games, not recording any points. He had been a healthy scratch the last two Flyers' games.
The Storm has lost five games in a row and play in Barrie tonight. Sunday they host the Brampton Steelheads in a 4 p.m. at the Sleeman Centre.
Luchanko won't play tonight but there is a chance he could play Sunday.
Flyers GM Danny Briere on Luchanko: "We feel for his development and to have the best Jett Luchanko, he needs to go play a lot of minutes. He needs to go learn to be the guy." Also giving Luchanko time to get ready for WJC is big part of decision.
