Zehrs celebrates community and Canada 150

Stores share free barbecue, fun, games and gifts

All Zehrs stores in Guelph had a kind of early Canada Day and Canada 150 celebration on Thursday, with free community barbecues, assorted games and activities. Zehrs personnel did the serving.

There are four Zehrs in city – Zehrs Clairfield, Zehrs Eramosa, Zehrs Imperial, and Zehrs Hartsland.

Clairfield had special guests from the Guelph Police Youth Engagement Program, and Guelph Mayor Cam Guthrie was scheduled to be on hand. There was face painting, and air-hockey.

Eramosa had a vintage Case tractor out front, decorated with Canadian maple leaf balloons. There was a rocking climbing wall, complete with safety gear, a cotton candy machine, and a bouncy castle.

Imperial had a big cake, and a build-your-own cupcake station, representatives from Guelph Food Bank were on hand, and there were temporary tattoos.

And Hartsland was to have a dunk tank, face painting and balloon animals.

Visits to the Eramosa and Imperial locations found dozens of people participating. They enjoyed good company and good barbecues burgers and hotdogs. There was the threat of rain in the late afternoon, but there were places to take cover.

Zehrs held he events as a way showing its appreciation to the community.
