York Road just south of downtown Guelph has been reopened to traffic both ways.
Through traffic is now possible on York Road from Ontario Street to Wyndham Street as construction temporarily stops until the spring.
The road has been closed since early July for a $4 million infrastructure project that includes sewer replacement, water pipe replacement, repaving, bike lane and curbs.
The York Road/Ontario Street intersection is also being improved.
The road’s current two lane configuration will be maintained. A multi-use path on the south side and cycling lanes on the north side of the road will be added.
The city attempted to repoen the westbound lane of traffic to make through travel more convenient but it was deemed unsafe and the entire road was closed.
