The Waterloo Warbirds are taking to the skies this Saturday in honour of veterans, active service members and their loved ones for Remembrance Day.

There will be two flyovers throughout Guelph, Wellington County, Waterloo Region and surrounding areas.

Starting at 10:30 AM, their T-33, L29, Vampire, and Harvard planes will head out from the Region of Waterloo International Airport to fly around Waterloo Region, Wellington County and beyond.

The bright yellow World War II Harvard Mk. IIB will fly over cenotaphs in Hespeler and Guelph before flying over Homewood Health Centre and Woodlawn Memorial Park in Guelph.

Steve Zago, a Guelph-based pilot who volunteers with the Waterloo Warbirds said the aircraft should be coming over Guelph around 10:45 a.m., give or take a few minutes.

The vintage plane that will be spotted in Guelph was built in 1942, and helped train pilots during the war, he said.

The entire route is expected to run from around 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

The Warbirds will share updates on their Facebook page throughout the day.
