The Friends of the Guelph Public Library are thrilled to announce that its highly anticipated 16th Annual BIG Book Sale Fundraiser is set to take place Sept. 19-22 at the BAMCO Group premises located at 440 Elmira Rd. N., Guelph at the intersection of Massey Road.

This popular family friendly event offers a fantastic opportunity for book lovers of all ages to explore a selection of over 80,000 gently-used books, games, puzzles, DVDs, and sheet music – all at unbeatable prices. The friends also announce that The Red Brick Café will sell coffee, tea, and snacks at a pop-up café so customers can keep hydrated and energized while shopping.

Opening day Thursday, Sept. 19, has a $10 admission fee, but admission is free on the remaining the sale days. Sale hours are 2-8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 10-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. For those who can’t attend on the first day, there is no need to worry, the tables are re-stocked continuously throughout the sale until the stockroom is empty.

There is limited parking at the building, but attendants will gladly guide shoppers to additional parking adjacent to the site and on both sides of Massey Road. Carpooling is encouraged, and Guelph Transit, Route NW-20 Industrial, stops right next to Bamco. Shoppers of all ages can expect a vast range of genres and topics, including fiction, non-fiction, children's books, bestsellers, rare and antiquarian finds, sheet music, DVD’s, puzzles, and games.

Every child attending will receive a free book again this year thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor. Adult hardcovers are $4, softcovers $3, mass market paperbacks $1. Children’s books and special items will be individually priced.

Cash and debit will be accepted. All proceeds help support Guelph Public Library programs, including educational initiatives, community events, and technology upgrades. Previous sales raised more than $1 million - all of it gifted to the Guelph Public Library to support the new main library building project and on-going  programs.
