New medication carts for complex patient care are on their way to St. Joseph’s Health Centre following Sunday’s annual Taste of Guelph event, which raised $185,000.

“It was a wonderful success all around,” said Jennifer Hall, the centre’s vice-president of development. “Our goal was $170,000, so we surpassed our goal.”

In addition to samples from about 50 local restaurants, caterers, vintners, brewers and bakers, the fundraiser featured a live auction for things such as Maple Leafs tickets, a private chef-prepared dinner and a luxury vacation.

There were about 1,000 people present for the three-hour event, including about 650 ticket-holders, plus vendors and volunteers.

“There’s so many people from our community who come out, not just our guests and sponsors, but the volunteers and the vendors that all come out and donate their time and energy to create the event and the experience for our guests,” said Hall. “It really is a wonderful group of people who come together for St. Joe’s.”

St. Joseph’s Health Centre is a not-for-profit provider of long-term care, complex continuing care and rehabilitation services.
