Guelph Horticultural Society members brought out their finest flowers on Saturday, picked from the rich selection of blossoms that are thriving during a very fertile growing season.
Twenty members were part of the Summer's Glory Flower Show, a flower competition that dazzled lovers of pretty growing things at Old Quebec Street Shoppes.
Heather Robinson, a judge and organizer of the show, said the event is a showcase for the many passionate gardeners that are members of the organization.
"There has been a marvellous crop of flowers this year," Robinson said. "Compared to last year, when it was so dry, there is a great bounty to choose from this year."
A vibrant and flourishing growing year like this one, she added, raises the spirits of any gardener.
"There is just something wonderful about it," she said. "It is such a calming, uplifting pastime."
