Section of CNR Spurline Trail to close temporarily

From Sept. 25 for up to two days

The Spurline Trail will be closed starting Sept. 25 between Exhibition Street and Woolwich Street for up to two days.

The closure is happening while the city installs monitoring wells to help gather data for infrastructure upgrades in the Exhibition Park neighbourhood.

While it’s closed, the suggested detour is to take Division Street before linking back up with the trail after Woolwich or Exhibition.

The rest of the trail will remain open.

It's part of a broader project, with the city looking to upgrade sanitary sewers, watermains, stormwater sewers and surface works. The work involves a small drill rig to install 25 monitoring wells in the Exhibition Park neighbourhood.

Blue drums may be present onside near the well locations for about a week, containing soil and water from the drilled hole. They will be collected once the work is complete.

All 25 wells are expected to be installed by Oct. 18. Other areas that might be impacted during that time include Kathleen Street, Exhibition Street, Glasgow Street, London Road and Cardigan Street.
