As of this morning, 834 students in Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph were handed suspensions for overdue required vaccines or out of date records.

Required vaccinations include measles, mumps, meningitis, rubella, pertussis, polio, tetanus, and diphtheria.

Some students may not be up-to-date with the required immunizations, while others simply might not have updated their records with public health.

Students will be suspended until April 15 unless they complete outstanding vaccinations, update their vaccination records or provide a medical, philosophical or religious exemption.

This time last year, 1,301 elementary students were suspended for overdue immunizations.

In early March, there were more than 2,000 students at risk of suspension, and over 4,000 in February.
