It might not be the sorely-needed grocery store, but east Guelph could be getting a new McDonald’s restaurant.
The restaurant is part of a proposal that includes a gas station, drive-through car wash and a separate retail store for the southwest corner of the Eastview Road/Watson Parkway Intersection.
A numbered company from Cambridge has applied to the City of Guelph’s Committee of Adjustment seeking minor variances for a reduced number of parking spaces for commercial uses, reduced waiting spaces for car wash, and location of outdoor patio.
Their application, which is for 455 Watson Pkwy. N., will be heard July 9.
The McDonald’s being proposed would seat 120 people and be 472 square metres in size.
The entire lot is just under 10,000 square metres.
The application is seeking:
-
A variance to allow 79 parking spaces instead of the required 88
-
10 waiting spaces for the car wash as instead of the required 15
-
An outdoor patio for the McDonad’s
A patio is usually not permitted where one of the lot lines of the site plan are adjacent to a residential zone.
Anyone wishing to speak on the variance application can register with the city to do so at 4 p.m. on July 9.
