The City of Guelph has made most of the pedestrian signals across the city automatic.

That means pedestrians do not have to push the button to activate the signal or bring up the "walk" sign.

The move is a response to the COVID-19 pandemic and doing away with multiple people touching a button.

There are a few exceptions to the automatic activation and people will still have to activate four city signals:

  • Victoria Road North and Simmonds Drive
  • Grange Road and Kearney Street
  • Grange Road and Auden Road
  • Waterloo Avenue west of Beechwood Avenue
