Guelph is getting almost $1.2 million from the Provincial Government for bike lanes and other bicycle infrastructure projects.

An announcement on Monday from the province listed 120 different communities that would be getting various levels of funding through the Ontario Municipal Commuter Cycling Program.

Guelph is receiving $1,191,335.

Overall the province is investing $93 million this year, said the news release.

Ontario’s Cycling Strategy was announced in 2013 to promote safe cycling and encourage more people to ride their bikes to work, school and for recreation.
