The temperature in Guelph hasn’t been this high on Oct. 30 since Y2K was a thing.

Environment Canada has confirmed the Guelph area set a new record for Oct. 30, with a high of 21.9 degrees, a tenth of a degree higher than the previous record set in 1999.

A number of areas across southern Ontario set new records on Wednesday.

The national weather authority credits a southwesterly flow that moved a warm air mass over the area.

The temperature is expected to be above 20 degrees for Thursday, before it drops to single digit highs for the weekend.
