ELORA – An annual kick off to Food Day Canada is back and going bigger than before.
Elora’s Longest BBQ will build upon the success of 2023’s inaugural event by hosting a celebration of Canadian food culture in Downtown Elora.
On July 30 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., 15 local chefs and restaurants will offer culinary creations to the hungry public.
This year will expand from just being on the Jack R. MacDonald pedestrian bridge to include West Mill Street and the Elora Mill property as well.
Celebrity chef Michael Smith will also be there with a presentation of “Oysters on the Bridge” which highlights his expertise and passion for local seafood.
There will be a dedicated area for children to learn and play with their food with interactive arts activities.
A beer garden will feature a selection of craft beers from Elora Brewing Co. and spirits from the Elora Distillery.
The event will open with a cake cutting ceremony to honour the late Anita Stewart, a former Elora resident and Canadian Food Champion who was the founder of Food Day Canada.
Elora’s Longest BBQ is a free to attend event but food and drink tickets are available for purchase. Organizers recommend buying in advance to avoid a long wait in line. They can be bought here.
The rain date for this event is scheduled for July 31.
