The Guelph Humane Society is running a low-cost microchipping clinic this Saturday for cats and dogs.
If your pet goes missing, microchipping them is one of the most reliable ways to ensure a safe return.
The process is quick and painless, with a chip the size of a grain of rise being implanted into the pet, just under the skin between the shoulder blades. The chip can be scanned by shelters and veterinary clinics, showing a unique identification number linking the pet to its owner's contact information.
The clinic runs on Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Guelph Humane Society by appointment only. The cost is $40 per pet. Appointments can be made online.
Dogs must remain on leash and cats in carriers for the duration of the event.
