Accident shuts down County Road 124 east of Guelph (3 photos) UPDATE: Road opened

No injuries in incident involving a fuel truck and SUV that occurred around 9 a.m.

UPDATE: The County of Wellington reports the road was reopened at approximately 2:45 p.m. and there were no injuries

Wellington County OPP has closed Wellington Road 124 following a motor vehicle accident just before 9 a.m. this morning east of Guelph near Watson Road.

The accident involved a fuel truck and a SUV. Both ended up in the ditch.

A truck carrying fuel flipped onto its side and the SUV was badly damaged.

Fire crews and a heavy-duty tow truck were on scene attempting to get the truck out of the ditch.

“We have heavy tows on the scene but they’re in the process of trying to right the truck and then they’re going to have another tanker show up and move the fuel from one truck to another,” said OPP spokesperson Cst. Joshua Cunningham.

He said there was no fuel leak.

Cunningham did not have any update on possible injuries or when the road would reopen.
