The 30th aniverasary kick off concert of the Kramdens in March is one of the highlights of this year's Music Weekends, which launches on Saturday with a performance by Shook Boys at eBar.

For the fourth year in a row, Downtown Guelph is hosting its Music Weekends in partnership with regional tourism and other local partnerships from Jan. 4 to March. 8.

The 10-week music series aims to kick start the new year post the holidays by hosting a music afternoon every Saturday and Sunday at locations in Downtown Guelph.

The series includes a range of 20 music performances such as swing, bluegrass, afro-funk, 60s surf and roots for all ages to enjoy.

Guelph is known for the indie band scene that exists all year after hours and the Music Weekends offers access to the local artists easier by offering performances during the day.

Music Weekends is the brainchild of the Downtown Guelph Business Association.

There is also a special performance for children at The Making Box on Family Day.

Music Weekends first began in 2017 in an attempt to bring local promoters together to perform for audiences who can’t access Guelph’s night music scene because of the timing.

All events part of Music Weekends are ‘pay what you can’ and all proceeds collected from the events go directly to the local music industry.
