On average, Guelph residents swear more than residents of other Canadian cities. They also say ‘sorry’ more often.
Those are among the findings of a recent survey conducted by American polling firm Preply, which released its results last week.
Guelph came in second in terms of daily use of swear words, with an average of 14 per resident. That’s one back from Burlington, which is the most frequent swear-heavy city in Canada, according to the poll.
Guelph also made the list in terms of the number of times each day residents say “sorry” about something. At 14 per day, Guelph residents tied for third, alongside Longueuil, Que.
The most apologetic cities are Burlington, with 18 per day, and Oakville at 15.
According to the survey results, the average Canadian swears nine times per day, along with nine apologies.
Preply’s survey was conducted between July 24 and 28. It included 1,1518 respondents from 44 cities.
