GuelphToday received the following letter to the editor from reader Joyce Kemp.

I am 64 years old. I have lived in Guelph my entire life.

Is it just me or has Guelph become a disgrace? It used to be a beautiful city but things have changed.

First of all, they have narrowed all the streets down to one lane, apparently for the bike lanes that do not get used.

The bikes I see while driving are on the sidewalks. Now, traffic is really bad in this city, people are angry and tired from working but they have to sit and wait, on one lane roads, all through the city.

Our beautiful downtown is horrible to visit. The ugly barriers they have up for patios, the drug addicts hanging around the downtown fountain and at Knox church.

People do not feel safe and do not want to expose their children to this. What happened and why?

The mayor needs to take a look at what he and council have done to our wonderful city.

I want to feel proud again and not have to worry how long it’s going to take me to get to the other side of the city.

And the fireworks being cancelled for Canada Day! Simply pathetic.

The mayor and city council need to fix what they've created or resign.
