LETTER: Could tiny homes be part of the homeless problem answer?

One reader is curious why the potential solution hasn't been looked at further

GuelphToday received the following letter regarding Guelph's homeless problem and an idea that could help with the issue.

Tiny homes

What seems to be the problem with the city of Guelph council? They can’t get their act together on this issue, and apparently think Wellington County, who operates social services for both the county and Guelph should be solving the homeless problems.

How about the old Malleable iron site, that Guelph owns, and has been recently cleared by the Ontario government for housing, commercial, institutional and other projects? In their report the government requires some stipulations and procedures, but nothing that would break the budget.

My question to Guelph council and Wellington County is why are they looking at using park land when this property has been given the green light by the government, is owned by the city, and the Tiny Homes Group are willing to help with this project, and this property is 13 acres in size?
