A case of COVID-19 has been confirmed at Guelph CVI high school.

A form letter was sent out to parents/guardians and staff on Friday confirming that Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health has identified a positive case in the school.

It was not revealed if it was a student or staff member, but there has been no classroom closure as a result thus far. That could change once Public Health has conducted its contact tracing.

The school board does not identify whether it was a student or staff member but the provincial reporting portal usually does when it is posted there.

"Public Health has notified us that an individual in our school has tested positive for COVID-19. As a result, some affected classes and staff have been asked to stay at home while Public Health does contact tracing.  An automated call is being scheduled to go out tonight (October 9) to all high risk contacts and the same high risk contacts will receive a call from a Public Health case manager tomorrow," said the letter from the school.

There are currently six school cases in the Upper Grand Board: one each at Guelph CVI, June Avenue and Victory Public School and three at Waverley Drive Public School.

The Wellington Catholic District School Board no longer lists any active cases at any of its schools.
