WELLINGTON NORTH – While Wellington North spent less on council remuneration in 2024, both its mayors and councillors still saw a minor pay increase.
In a report coming to Wellington North council on Monday, treasurer Jeremiah Idialu said remuneration and expenditures remained "largely in line" with the budget during 2024 with a favourable variance of $675.56.
This variance is primarily due to lower conference and training expenses, council benefits and technology/phone costs.
In 2024, approximately $132,910 in remuneration and expenses were paid to council. This represents a reduction of just over $100 compared to 2023.
Mayor Andy Lennox was paid $30,562, with an additional $3,033 in benefits and technology expenses.
All four councillors made $19,684 in remuneration and received around $1,100 for computer, telephone and internet expenses. Most councillors received $1,347 in benefits except for Coun. Penny Renken, who got $384.
When it came to convention and seminar expenses, Renken had the highest with $4,844, followed by Coun. Sherry Burke at $1,987.
All of council received $800 for travel expenses.
