CENTRE WELLINGTON – Centre Wellington community members and businesses were honoured at a drive-in movie style awards ceremony.
The Centre Wellington Chamber of Commerce’s (CWCC) annual Awards of Excellence Gala was held on July 23, in the parking lot at the Grand River Raceway sponsored by OLG.
The awards were supposed to be a gala-style event held in May but planning was put on hold in mid-March. The chamber chose to move forward with an adjusted event in the Grand River Raceway parking lot.
Approximately 80 cars of nominees, sponsors and community members gathered with standard physical distancing cautions in place. The show featured a live emcee, shown on a 40-foot inflatable screen and awards were presented using pre-recorded videos.
To celebrate nominees and winners, attendees flashed their lights and honked their horns.
“We are proud to have delivered this unique event to our Centre Wellington business community,” said Sally Litchfield, CWCC event planner, in a press release. “We tried to make it as interactive and exciting as possible and we can’t thank the attendees for their enthusiasm and willingness to participate.”
